LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Education is a key to avoiding future episodes of homelessness. In order to best equip our residents, we offer a variety of learning opportunities for adults and children.

Spiritual Learning Opportunities

Spiritual growth opportunities are an important component of our lives. Our residents are offered the opportunity to attend daily morning devotions and evening chapel services.  Bible studies for men and women and Bible lessons for children are offered.  Residents are encouraged to work on their spiritual growth during their time here.

Learning opportunities

Financial literacy, computer skills, and parenting skills are some of the classes available to residents. We like to offer many types of learning experiences from one time “make and take” or hands-on cooking classes to weekly educational, art therapy, or stress reduction classes. We also have an internet cafe for residents to improve their computer skills or to search for housing and jobs. If you have a skill that you would like to share, we need you! Learning opportunities for our littlest guests

The trauma of homelessness greatly impacts our youngest residents. Offering educational and enrichment opportunities for our children is crucial to their personal development. If you are willing to offer a one-time craft class or an ongoing class for preschoolers or elementary aged children, please fill out a volunteer application. You would bring smiles to our kiddo’s faces!

Summer Education and Enrichment

Every summer we offer a 6 week Summer Education and Enrichment program to help provide additional support for children K - 6th grade. This is always very impactful in the child’s educational development, not to mention, a lot of fun!  Field trips are planned every week. In order to effectively run this program, we pay a lead teacher and college interns, who are in their third year of college, and use adult volunteers. Contact us for more information.

Educational Gardens

Our Children’s Garden Playground and Denny Nichols Memorial Garden offer pleasant opportunities to learn and quiet places to refresh our souls. A large array of vegetables and flowers are planted. Both gardens are supported by experienced gardeners and offer gardening experiences for adults and children. One morning a week from Memorial Day planting to the end of September, the gardeners, along with CTM residents, meet to learn and tend and enjoy the beauty. We could really use your help - no experience needed! Just fill out a volunteer application.

If you have experience teaching men, women, and/or children and are interested in impacting their lives, we need your help!
