Soles 4 Souls

Have you seen a homeless person wearing shoes that are falling apart and held together by duct tape or a homeless child with shoes so small and tight that it causes the child to limp?  A new pair of shoes is a basic need that can seem like a luxury for those who can’t afford them. Something as simple as footwear that many take for granted can mean a lot to those who don’t have them.  Shoes provide comfort, protection from the environment, dignity, employment, confidence and improved quality of life for someone who is homeless and in need. Carriage Town Ministries has partnered with Soles4Souls to provide 245 pairs of shoes to those in need.

As a resident  at Carriage Town Ministries, Thomas is grateful for the shelter’s resources, which has been helping men, women and children experiencing homelessness by providing a haven of safety and acceptance, learning and responsibility, structure and productivity…A place to find a new birth, a sense of purpose for today and hope for tomorrow.

For Thomas, having a new pair of shoes made a world of difference and has given him newfound confidence. He says that “these shoes were a blessing to me because I recently started a new job and have been able to do my job with confidence. I’m grateful to have a pair of new shoes that fit me.” He is now training to be a manager at Rally’s in Flint.
