Most often, CTM's introduction to those in need takes place in the dining
room. The most basic common need in the lives of the poor and homeless is a warm
meal, and through the kindness and compassion of our donors CTM prepares and
serves more than 43,000 hot meals each year...and tens of thousands of sack
lunches, food distributions, holiday box promotions, etc. for families in need.
The
mission's kitchen staff works with volunteers to prepare breakfast for those who
stayed at CTM the prior evening, lunch for the long-term residents, and dinner
for any and all in need of a delicious, warm meal.
In addition to the meals served in the CTM dining rooms (in both Men's and
Women's buildings), needy families come to the mission to receive food baskets
they can then take home and prepare. This has become one of the fastest
growing aspects of CTM's Food Ministry as we see more and more families who
have places to stay but not enough money to buy food.
