It is with great excitement, humility and joy that I write you, the faithful supporters of God's work at Carriage Town Ministries. For many years you have helped with your hands and shared with your hearts God's blessings with those who need a hand up. I too am a long time supporter while the ministry was shepherded by the late Rev. Jerry Peaster, Rev.Bob Sweeney and Lois St Clair. I am honored to be only the fifth executive director since the work was founded in 1950 by Reverend John Schaich . And next year we will celebrate 60 years of service to the Greater Flint Area.

We are all looking forward  to the weeks from Thanksgiving to Christmas as the busiest and most rewarding season of the year even as we are mindful of the everyday needs of people around us; and there are many. Please stop by when you can or give us a call. We'd love to speak at your church or other gatherings about the mission here an your special place in it. You are an essential and valued part of the work that happens here. My pledge to you is that I will lead Carriage Town on a foundation of daily prayer and thankfulness for the opportunity to serve God and His children in this way. Our team here will strive to be consistently faithful stewards of the resources God has shared with us through you. And we will be always mindful that to follow Jesus means to truly follow Him by feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and sharing the Good News of Christ crucified, risen, and active in restoring lives. Jesus was a foot washer and so we wash feet.

In the days ahead read John 13 again and linger there for a while. A beautiful object lesson is played out by Jesus to impress upon us that we are here to serve---and serving means to do for others things that to many seem out of place, odd, inconvenient. Let's be "odd" together, a peculiar people, mixing generosity and grace with accountability and perseverance. All in the shared hope of hearing the words someday, "Well done good and faithful servant."

We will share more, much more as we take this journey together. In the meantime, God's richest blessings to you and yours as you follow Jesus. Thank you for coming along side of us. And we look forward to working with you until He comes.
